Dr. Metz has joined the Team!

On January 15, 2019, Dr. Eric Metz will begin treating patients at Springfield Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Metz is an excellent physician who genuinely cares about his patients. He takes the necessary time to listen to the patient, diagnose the problem and put together a plan with the patient that produces the best possible outcome. He loves the Springfield community and looks forward to continuing to serve in the Champion City as an Orthopedic Surgeon. SOSMI is honored to have Dr. Metz as a member of the team.

 

A little more on Dr. Metz:

Dr. Eric Metz graduated magna cum laude from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. Thereafter, he completed postgraduate studies at The Ohio State University.  He completed his medical education at Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Eastern Kentucky.  His internship and orthopedic surgical training was through the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System.

Dr. Metz is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.  He is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and American Osteopathic Association.  In his practice of general orthopedic surgery, he treats upper and lower extremities, including hip and knee replacement surgery, carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, knee arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, and fracture repair.

Dr. Metz is involved in training orthopedic surgical residents as a clinical preceptor for the Orthopedic Residency Program at Grandview Medical Center.  Additionally, he volunteers as a clinical examiner and oral-board examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Metz and his wife, Rose, live in Springfield with their 4 boys, Brandon, Andrew, Daniel, and Nollan.  He and his family are active members of First Christian Church in Springfield, Ohio.  Rose is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and practices veterinary medicine in Springfield.  Dr. Metz enjoys playing the trumpet and flugelhorn, bicycling with his family on the local trails, and spectating at his children’s sports and school events.
